We are instigating Change.png

Our unique and award-winning mental health and wellbeing programme Brain Smart® equips children with simple, life-enhancing knowledge about the brain and its impact on their wellbeing.

Delivered through our groundbreaking 90-minute drama-based session, participants are encouraged and supported to be open about their fears, anxieties, hopes and dreams, regarding their pending transition to senior school. This helps them to recognise when they may be experiencing thoughts and feelings that could escalate into mental ill-health.

The projects ensemble approach to learning allows students to understand the collective nature of their anxieties and that what they are experiencing is a common feeling amongst all, therefore reducing the feelings of loneliness and despair that can often accompany anxiety.

The course takes students back 2.5 million years to the time of the first humans as Hunter-Gatherers. Facing life endangering threats every day, our brains were constantly in Threat Mode, endlessly triggering the Fight, Flight or Freeze response to keep us alive.

Through various drama games, students are taught to understand that whilst our surroundings may have changed, our brains are still constantly searching for threats, triggering the archaic Fight, Flight or Freeze response to what we perceive as threats.

Our Brain often finds itself in Bully Mode and we see threats where they may not exist

If we can switch our brain to Smart Mode then we can deal with those issues better

If we can identify when

our brain is in Bully Mode

then it is likely we will be able
to switch our brains to

Smart Mode
